Ever wonder why I charge $300 for our Initial Consultation? See the breakdown below:
Initial contact before we meet. Brief phone call (15-20 minutes) to get more information about your project and share a bit about my process. Schedule appointment on my calendar.
Driving to and from the appointment (up to 30 minutes one way).
Actual meeting time of 90 minutes, during which I share valuable ideas about your space’s potential. Ideas that are yours to keep! After all it is why you contacted me!
Meeting notes are prepared from my illegible handwritten notes taken during our time together. Much of the time, I expound on the concepts we discussed by adding pictures to the notes. Our meeting notes are the beginning of the scope of work that will be a part of your Design Package that builders will use to bring new life to your home. Time involved 60-90 minutes.
Wow, the 90 minute consultation has turned into a little over 4 hours of time I have invested in your project. Four hours at my current hourly rate of $150/hour is $650. All of a sudden $300 is sounding like a deal!
Of course there are intangible elements too, such as 23 years of experience in the design and building industry, a specialization in kitchen and bathroom design, as well as the overhead involved in running a business.
Sharing ideas, brainstorming a space’s potential is the basis for great renovation project! I have found that having a solid plan helps you achieve more than you could have anticipated from your space. A plan, with drawings and product selections, lays the ground work for both you and the builder to see clearly what you are expecting from your renovation. The process begins with the Initial Consultation.
